VIOLET L. HATMAKER

August 2, 1932 - August 23, 2024

Violet L. Hatmaker, age 92, of Briceville, TN peacefully passed away at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge on Friday, August 23, 2024 with her family by her side. Violet was born August 2, 1932 in Dutch Valley and then moved and grew up in Briceville. She remained in Briceville her entire life. She worked at K-25 in Oak Ridge for several years before taking a job with the Anderson County School System as Secretary of Briceville Elementary School. She retired from there after 29 years of service. Her husband, son, grandsons, and great-grandchildren were her life. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, housekeeping, and cooking for her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Oshia Adkins of Briceville, and her sister, Rose Bradshaw of Clinton.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 67 years, Floyd (Nig) Hatmaker of Briceville, Son, Tim Hatmaker and wife Annely of Knoxville, Grandsons, Jeremy Hatmaker of Knoxville, Derek Hatmaker and wife Lesley of Knoxville, Great-Grandchildren, Ryleigh, Mason, Zac, Emersyn.

The family wishes to thank her special nephew and his wife, Randall and Kathy Hatmaker of Briceville and special friends, Johnny and Jimmy Bullock of Lake City whose caregiving and concern helped the family tremendously. Also, thanks to the RNs on 5-West at Oak Ridge Hospital and the Hospice Team that provided compassionate care.

The family will receive friends from 5:00PM-7:00PM, Monday, August 26 at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City. The service will follow in the Chapel at 7:00PM with the Rev. Jimmy Ault officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, August 27 at Leach Cemetery in Lake City.
