Verlie Leora (Hatmaker) Copeland

Verlie Leora Hatmaker Copeland was born at home in Pinecrest, Tennessee on February 18, 1924, and she passed away on July 28, 2013 at her home in Lake City. Her parents were William Fate and Rebecca Jane Hawkins Hatmaker. Her sisters and brother were Della Flossie, Mona Bartione, Mabel Irene and William Howard. Verlie is survived by her husband of 56 years J. C. J. C. lovingly cared for Verlie the last several years at their home in Lake City. She was saved years ago at Island Ford Church and had attended New Hope Baptist for many years. Several years ago she became a member of Main Street Baptist. After her retirement from Lake City Hospital as a Geriatric Aide, Verlie and J. C. enjoyed the Flea Markets at Crossville and Tazewell. Prior to her career at the hospital, she was employed as a Seamless Knitter at Magnet Mills in Clinton. Verlie enjoyed gardening and reading. She enjoyed witnessing and talking to people about Jesus. She visited friends and family at the Lake City and Clinton Assisted Living facilities. Children: Charles Lee Goins and Judy of Norris, Jan Copeland Webb and Don of Clinton, Michael Copeland and Kathy of Jacksboro. Grandchildren are Steven Goins and Suzanne, Mark Goins of Georgia; Corey Jobe and Shell of Caryville Tennessee; Maranda Brock and Jason of Powell, Tennessee. Step Grand Children: Wayne Rosser and Christy of Lafollette; Kevin Muse and Brittany of Jacksboro; Heather Webb Anderson and Peter of Louisville, Kentucky. Great Grand Children are Logan Jobe, Casey , Joshua, and Allie Goins,. Step Great Grand Children are Raelin, Carter and Reese Rosser; Roman, McKenzie, Paityn and Tyson Muse; Verlie is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Verlie was preceded in death by Step Grandson, Scottie Webb, London, Kentucky, and Great Grandson, Corey Lynn Jobe, Caryville, Tennessee. Special thanks to Jerry Gaylor, Jacksboro, for the love given to Verlie when he and Kathy joined the Copeland family. Special thanks to Kathy Copeland and Brittany Muse for the care given Verlie at Kathy and Mike's home in Jacksboro. Special thanks for the love and care provided by Shell Jobe, Raelin Rosser and Maranda Brock in the last weeks of her time here . A Celebration of Life will be held at Main Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Wayne Phillips officiating on Saturday, August 10 at 3:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. before the Celebration of Life Service. Interment of ashes will be at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery at Jacksboro.
