Steve A. Hatmaker of Clinton passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 at the age of 52. Steve was born to Robert and Lydia (Armes) Hatmaker on September 21, 1962 in Lake City, where he was a member of the Lake City High School class of 1980. Steve obtained an Associate's degree at Hiwassee College, attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and then joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1983. After retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant, Steve returned with his family to Clinton and completed his Bachelor's Degree at Tusculum College. He then embarked on his second career in law enforcement, serving with the Anderson County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Steve is survived by his wife Susan Stockstill Hatmaker; his children Luke, Morgan, Audrey, and Ellie; his mother Lydia; his siblings Jeff "Scott", Stan, and Robbie; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his father on February 26, 2015 and his grandparents Virgil and Lucinda Armes, and Luke and Bess Hatmaker. Steve's wife and children were his entire world.


Visitation will be held at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 starting at 4:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 pm with Pastor Steve Damos officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the college education fund established for Steve's children at SunTrust Bank. Details will be available at the service.
