Richard F. Servis, age 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, April 28, 2017, in Powell, TN. Richard was a kind and generous man who was respected by all those who knew him. Richard was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Clinton, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella and Clyde Servis, of Angola, Indiana, his brother, Robert, and his sisters, Marilyn, Eleanor and Betty. Richard is survived by several loving nieces and nephews across the country and many, many friends. His central characteristic was his faith, and his love of God directed him and impacted every aspect of his life, especially his relationships with others. Richard lived the life of a humble servant.
His life was a potpourri of accomplishments. He was an Air Force Veteran, a high school English teacher and wrestling coach, and a Church of Christ minister. He loved animals, especially the family German Shepherd (Duchess), his Dalmatian (Pip), and his last dog, Woggie.
A Celebration of Richard’s life will take place at Asbury United Methodist Church, 405 W Broad St, Clinton, TN 37716 at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Wayne Smith and Father Tim Sullivan will officiate. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Anderson County Humane Society, 969 Oak Ridge Turnpike, #366, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
