Mary Lillian (Armes) Smithers

Mary Lillian Armes Smithers of LaFollette passed away Saturday January 26, 2013. Lillian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksboro. Lillian is preceded in death by parents, Virgil and Lucinda Armes and sister, Sally White.


She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Edward Smithers. Sons and daughters in law, Mike and Marie Smithers and Jeff and Lois Ann Smithers. Grandchildren, Amy Smithers Blankenship (Brent), Emily Smithers Raulston (Andrew), Molly Smithers Starbird (Steven), Jake Smithers and Abbey Smithers. Great grand daughter, Victoria Blankenship. Siblings, Rhoda Dagley, Lydia Hatmaker, Loretta Woods, Virgil Armes, Deana Parks, and Freddy Armes.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 with funeral service to follow at First Baptist Church Jacksboro with Pastor Bill Morris officiating. Those planning to attend the burial will meet Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
