Mary Jo (Gilpatrick) Hawkins peacefully entered the beauty of Heaven's promise December 5, 2015. Born November 7, 1925 she just celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, William H. Hawkins, parents Joseph and Bessie Young Gilpatrick, and brother, Willard Gilpatrick. She spent her life as a caregiver to many and a beloved part of her adopted family that of the late Winifred and Joseph Earl McKenzie, Sr. both of whom she cared for before they passed. The McKenzie family will always thank God for her love and presence in their family and the care she gave to others.
Visitation and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Alcoa on Wednesday December 9, 2105. Visitation at 10:00am with Mass at 11:00am with Rev. Bill Gahagan officiating. The remains will then be taken to Nashville, her home. Visitation in Nashville will be Thursday December 10, 2015 at 10:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00am, at Christ the King Church on with the Rev. Pat Kibby officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Safe Haven Shelter in Nashville.
