Margaret "Christine" Disney Phillips

Margaret "Christine" Disney-Phillips, 88, of Lake City/Rocky Top, TN was gently called home on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Christine was a homemaker, born in what was known as Coal Creek (later known as Lake City and Rocky Top), TN. She was the 3rd oldest of 9 children of Charles "Charlie" Franklin Disney, Jr. (1901-1948) and Carrie Beatrice "Bea" Wilson-Disney (1903-1970). Christine married Lewis K. "Kenny" Phillips in 1947 and celebrated 64 years of marriage before losing Kenny in 2011. She was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Main Street Baptist Church, Rocky Top, since 1948. She and Kenny enjoyed winters in Florida and road trips across the U. S. In addition to her church, she loved her family and long-time loyal friends who were considered family. In addition to her parents, Christine is preceded in death by brothers: Floyd Disney (1926-1974), Paul Disney (1930-1989) and Robert Disney (1945-2006); Sisters: Louise Disney-Chamblee (1924-1996), Dorothy Jean Disney-Duncan (1932-2016), Barbara Sue Disney-Guy (1935-1995), and Janice Alice Disney-Austin (1938-2009). Survived by brother Richard Disney (Diane) of Rocky Top; daughters Becky Phillips-Parker (Ron) of Cornelius, NC; Rosetta Phillips-Peeples (Dave) of Jacksonville, FL; Grandchildren Christy Cupp-Ward (Brian) of Papua New Guinea and Alec Cupp (Heather) of Knoxville; Great-Grandchildren Tyler Ward (US Navy), Grace, Jenny, Jonathan, Sarah and Daniel Ward of Papua New Guinea; and great-granddaughter Rylee Cupp of Knoxville. Christine is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to staff at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Powell and caretakers Lecia Marcum-Moreau, Roni Taylor and Gwen Liles-Justice ("Li'l Sis"). Also thanks to Charlie Smith at Village Florist, Rocky Top, TN for the family floral arrangements. Funeral service will take place at Main Street Baptist Church, Rocky Top, on Friday, December 9, 2016 with visitation from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, followed by a celebration of "Momma C's" life at 7:00 pm. Pastor Wayne Phillips will officiate. Pall bearers: Alec Cupp, Dave Peeples, Tyler Ward, Chris Enix, John Watson and Devin Watson.
