Jimmie Joe Carroll age 69 of Portage, Indiana passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at his residence. He was born February 13, 1945 in Lafollette, Tennessee to Burl Carroll and Margaret Miller Carroll. He was a member of the Clinch River Baptist Church and grew up in the Medford Community. After graduation from Lake City High School in 1963, he attended Business College to study drafting. He was called upon to serve his country with the U.S. Army. While serving a tour in Vietnam, he was responsible for hauling troops & supplies. After his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1967, he moved to Indiana, accepting employment with Bethlehem Steel Corporation, where he served in a supervisory position until his retirement. During his high school years, he was nominated for "Class Clown" and his sense of good humor followed throughout his life-time. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and all who loved him. In addition to his parents, Jimmie is preceded in death by: an infant brother, sister, Helen Craig West and nephew John Craig.
Survivors:
Son, David Carroll (Rebecca), Mullica Hill, New Jersey; Daughters, Angela Cook (Shane), Bentonville, Virginia and Shamiah Henderson (Lindsay), Indiana; four grandchildren: Michael Del Real, Mason Carroll, Hannah Cook, and Ivy Henderson, several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend, Jessica Potis.
Visitation: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday, February 21, 2014 at Hatmaker Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11:00 AM Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Webster officiating.
Interment: To Follow Funeral Services at the Leach Cemetery on Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Lake City, Tennessee with Military Honors presented by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
