James Edward Lindsay, 82, of Lake City, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2025 at U.T. Hospice in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born December 25, 1942 in Anderson County, Tennessee to Clarence Benjamin and Evelyn Glandon Lindsay. He was saved in a revival at First Baptist Church, Lake City where he went to church with his parents. He attended Clear Branch Baptist Church, Lake City with his wife and family, their home church. He graduated from Lake City High School, Class of 1961.
In May 29, 1952, he received his diploma from Tennessee Institute of Electronics. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1966 and received an Honorable discharge on May 30, 1968. He completed a course in the Department of the Army, General Cryptographic Repair (Transition) Course on February 20, 1964. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal for outstanding achievement while being assigned to the 9th Air Force Direct Air Support Center in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from May 2, 1965 to May 24, 1965. In October 1966, he worked at Y-12 Oak Ridge, TN. On June 22, 1968 he married Linda Sue Slover. He began working at Digital Equipment Corporation in 1978, which merged into Compaq Computer Corporation and finally merged into Hewlett-Packard. He worked there until November 5, 2004. In January 7, 2005 he retired from Hewlett Packard with 35 years and 11 months as a Field Service Engineer, continuously learning and weathering many changes in this dynamic field.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, his Brother-In-Law-Thomas LaRou, Georgia, and his Daughter, Jamie Elizabeth (Beth) Lindsay Hooks. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Sue Slover Lindsay, Son-James Michael Lindsay and wife Samantha, Knoxville, Daughter-Julie Suzanne Lindsay Bowling, Clinton, Son-In-Laws-Kevin Bowling and Roger Hooks. Grandchildren-Lindsay Bowling, Samuel and wife Bailey Bowling, Kaelyn Bowling, Cody Ellis, Camden Hooks, Cayson Hooks.

The Lindsay Family would like to express their appreciation to the U. T. Hospice and his Doctors at the University of Tennessee Hospital for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice at U. T. in care of Hospice Promise Foundation, 4435 Valley View Drive, Suite 104, Knoxville, TN 37917.
Receiving of Friends: Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will follow the receiving of friends in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel at 7: 00 p.m with Rev. Danny Lawson officiating.
Graveside Service: Thursday, February 27, 2025, family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Hatmaker Funeral Home to go in procession to the Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Oak Ridge, TN for the 11:00 a.m. interment where military honors will be presented by the Honor Guard of Campbell County.
