In Loving Memory of
James Edward (Jimmy) Harness Sr., age 80 of Lake City, Tennessee passed away on July
8, 2024, at Methodist Medical Hospital, Oak Ridge. Jimmy was born January 28, 1944, in
Anderson County, Tennessee to the late Thomas Harness and Lillie May Rutherford. He
enjoyed working on vehicles, watching tv, fishing and spending time with his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas L. Harness and Lillie May (Rutherford)
Harness York, his wife Viner Jane Davis Harness, Father & Mother-n-Law John & Angeline
(Carroll) Davis, daughters, Carla Harness, Dolly Davis Jacks, and Wendy Renee (Harness)
Bumpus Seiber, son, James Edward Harness Jr., Great-grandson, Dawson Lee Harness,
sisters, Margie Louise Harness Roan) Craig and Rosa Lee Hooks, brothers, Tommy Lee
(Betty), Robert Glenn ”Poor Boy”, and Leon Poore, Sr., brothers-in-law Jerry Davis, Baby
Boy John Davis, and sisters-in-law Laura Davis (Shag) Barnwell, Mary Davis (Don) Lee,

Visitation: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in
Lake City, TN.
Funeral Service: 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake
City, TN with Rev. Danny Lawson
Interment: 11:00 AM, Friday, July 12, 2024, at Circle Cemetery in Briceville, TN.
Special Recognition.
The entire Family of James Edward (Jimmy) Harness, Sr would like to express our deepest
appreciation to the amazing Staff at Methodist Medical Hospital that tended to Jimmy’s
care, the morning of admittance, his passing and aftercare for all family members able to
attend Jimmy’s last hours here with us. The family would also like to thank his Summit View Angels who always took extra special care of him.
Their diligence with upmost kindness to Jimmy with his prearrangements taken care
of and honoring his wishes to bring together all his family and friends in unity and tell
everyone much each one meant to him. His final wish was to let everyone know “I love you
buddy”!
