Hazel Elliott age 65 of Lake City, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 8, 2011 after a courageous and, ultimately, victorious battle over cancer. She never gave up her faith and now is reaping her reward in Heaven.
She retired from the Anderson County School System for over 30 years having worked in the Federal Projects Office. She was a gifted seamtress and enjoyed crafts and designing all types of floral arrangements. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Copper and Rileigh. Hazel was a member of the Clear Branch Baptist Church in Lake City and enjoyed going to church and the fellowship with the other members. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Coal Creek Chapter #226 with 25 plus years and past worthy matron.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Crawford, two brothers, Luther and Cleve Crawford, father-in-law Christy Elliott and brother-in-law Ralph Wormsley.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Chris Elliott of Lake City, Daughters, Leigh Anne Maye and husband, Chris of Jacksonville, Alabama, Crissy Jill Wilson and husband, John of Lake City and her beloved grandchildren, Cooper and Rileigh Maye of Jacksonville, Alabama. Hazel is also survived by her brother, Jerry Crawford of Clinton, sisters, Edna Taylor, Rene Foust of Clinton and Kathy Guyton of Lake City. Brother in law and sister in law, Ken and Pat Shrull of Lake City, many nieces, nephews, great nephews, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, October 10th, 2011 at Hatmaker Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Randy Norton officiating. Interment will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 at Leach Cemetery on New Clear Branch Road in Lake City.
