Frances Regina Pittenger
Frances Regina Carico Pittenger went to be with her Lord on March 22, 2016 after a long illness in Powell, Tennessee. Frances was born July 14, 1932 in Huntington, West Virginia, the daughter of Denver Harold Carico and Anna Sark Carico. She was much loved by her family and friends. Frances grew up with her eight brothers and sisters in Huntington's east end and was a proud alumnus of Huntington East High School. Frances was always an ardent lover of sports, excelling in basketball despite her diminutive size. She was also quite the bowler and she loved her bowling league at Colonial Lanes. She worked hard all through her life from a very young age and she instilled a strong work ethic in all of her children. During the 1970's, she worked as secretary for Marshall University's head football coach Jack Lengyel who took over the football team after the tragic plane crash made famous by the movie We Are Marshall. She is survived by her daughter Jean Ann Pittenger Grimes and her husband Conley Grimes of Richmond, Virginia, David Ray Pittenger and his wife Cathy of The Woodlands, Texas, and Ricky Lee Pittenger and his wife Kathy of Powell, Tennessee. She had 8 grandchildren, Darren Grimes, Christopher Pittenger and his wife Alexandria, Kevin Grimes and his wife Priscila, Sloan Furlong, Stuart Furlong, Kate Pittenger, Samantha Pittenger and Jack Pittenger. She also leaves behind four great grandchildren, Knox, Keo, Christopher and Oakleigh. Preceded in death by her brothers Ronald Carico and Harold Carico, and sister Norma Jean Nicolosi, she is survived by her sister Evelyn Trumbo, brothers Robert Carico, Danny Carico, Gary Wilischand Joe Carico. Frances was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia. The family would like to thank the caregivers at West Hills Health & Rehab in Knoxville, Tennessee and her friend Sharon Coffman of Comfort Care, who made her last year comfortable.
