Ezra Donald (Don) Slone
Ezra Donald (Don) Slone of Clinton, Anderson County, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, October 07, 2010, in his home of natural causes. He was 84 years young. He was preceded in death by his father, Morgan Slone, his mother Lurana Pratt Slone, his stepmother Sarah Slone, his brothers Clark James Slone, Orville Anderson Slone, Eugene Robert Slone and Wilburn Jasper (Jackie) Slone; sisters, Phena Slone Vance and Olive Slone Bates; wife Barbara Dee Quinn "Susie" Slone. He is survived by his sister Velda Mae Thomas of Pine Top, Kentucky; half bother James (Jimmy) Franklin Slone and half sisters Nora Jane Hall and Rose Kay Slone; four sons, Robert Michael, Timothy Kevin (wife Kimberly), Patrick Donald and Jeffery Norman (wife Sam) all of Clinton, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Thomas, Bryan, Kacy, Matthew, and Sarah; three great grandchildren, Hunter, Chloe and Aurora and many nieces and nephews. He was born in Hindman, Kentucky. He was of the Baptist faith and member of the Harlan Methodist Church; a Veteran of the WWII, a member of the OLEIKA Shrine, a graduate of the University of Kentucky, BS Min 1951; a fifty year member of the Society of Mining Metallurgy and Exploration (SME), former president of the Harlan County Coal Operators Association and the Kentucky Mining Institute. He was a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts & Camp Blanton in Harlan County, and many other institutions. Pursuant to his wishes there will be no funeral services. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 18 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City, Tennessee; visitation will be from 4 to 7 and a memorial service at 7.
