Ellen Parks

Ellen Parks, age 98 of Laurel Grove was born November 1, 1912 and died at her home on Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Ellen was the oldest member of her community and her church, Laurel Grove Missionary Baptist since 1925. She loved her church and served as clerk for over 53 years and as Sunday School teacher and janitor. She loved her family and like the proverbial hen, always gathered them under her wings. Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey M. and Sally Belle Duncan Harness, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Hobert Parks and her sons, Mike Parks and G.P. Parks. She is survived by her daughters, Adele Harness of Lake City, Janie Harness and husband W.C. Harness of Laurel Grove and Edna Parks and Winford Hoyt Harness who provided loving care for her in her home in her last years. Ellen is also survived by her sisters, Gertrude Harness of Laurel Grove and Ione Parks of Wartburg, TN. She also leaves to cherish her memory 14 Grandchildren, 40 Great Grandchildren, 22 Great, Great Grandchildren and 1 Great, Great, Great Grandchild.

Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Laurel Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral Service: 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Laurel Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. David White and Brother Audrey Goins officiating.
Friends and Family will meet at the Laurel Grove Cemetery on Saturday, July 2, 2011 for a 10:00 a.m. interment with Brother Roger Phillips officiating.
