Douglas Eugene "Doug" Hatmaker

Douglas Eugene "Doug" Hatmaker, age 72, of Lake City, Tennessee "walked" through the gates of Heaven after being confined to a wheelchair for 48 years on Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman. He and his multitude of friends were constantly on hunting or fishing trips or planning a trip. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends sharing stories from earlier trips and adventures they shared.

Doug was a member of Willowbrook Baptist Church in Lake City. He was preceded in death by father Elbert Hatmaker, infant daughter Kelly Hatmaker, wife Marie Hatmaker, and wife Shelby Hatmaker.

Doug is survived by his loving and caring wife Gay Sharp-Hatmaker, mother, Dorothy Hatmaker, daughter Vickie Cyr (Phil) of Lake City, TN, sister Patricia Sykes of Lake City, TN , brothers, Mike (Dana) Hatmaker of Clinton, TN, and Kevin Hatmaker of Lake City, TN, grandson Johnathan Cyr, step-sons Randy and Kevin (Brenda) Sharp of Knoxville, TN along with four step-grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was truly an inspiration and will be missed by all. The family would like to thank all his caregivers at Tennova Hospice Center in Halls.

Receiving of friends and family will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013, with funeral services following at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Roger Leach at the Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City, TN. Family and Friends will meet at 1:30 p.m. at Hatmaker Funeral Home on Friday, December 20, 2013, to go in procession to Clinch River Cemetery in Lake City, TN for a 2:00 p.m. interment. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Willowbrook Baptist Church Youth Group.
