Connie Sue Duncan

Connie Sue Braden Duncan of Oliver Springs, Tennessee passed away peacefully at her home, with family members by her side on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Connie was born on December 3, 1957 to the late, Elijah (Lige) Braden and Elise (Patton) Braden. In addition to her parents Connie is preceded in death by her Daughter Conyia Sue Duncan, grand daughter Brandy Dawn York, former husband (that she remained friends with) Forston Duncan, son in law Aaron York, brothers Ronald Mancini, Charles Braden, Lonnie Braden, Ralph Braden, Chucky (Chuck) Braden, sisters Reba Patterson, Ethel Ann Braden, Henrietta Braden, and Rose Lee Somerton, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers in law, and sisters in law.

Shew grew up in the Laurel Grove, Briceville Community, attending the local schools there. After marrying, she moved to the Dutch Valley area where she raised her family. She later moved to Oliver Springs then Harriman but returned to Frost Bottom when she had the opportunity.

She and her family enjoyed attending Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) events (picnics, dinners, etc) in honor of her brother, Captain Ralph Braden.

She worked in the textile industry for many years and gained skills, proficiency, and expert knowledge of a variety techniques. She  greatly enjoyed her work and stayed in the field until her declining health made it impossible for her to continue.

Connie was a person that enjoyed life and took one day at a time. She was a very strong, determined person and sacrificed out of a deep love for her family putting their needs above her own and making sure they had what they needed. She kept an upbeat attitude and would say, "It'll be alright. We'll get through this."

She attended Braden Flats Baptist Church during childhood and later attended Brown Flats Baptist Church after recommitting her life to Jesus Christ. She really missed not being able to attend church due to her health issues.

The treasures that she leaves behind are her beloved family whom she cherished: daughter: Shasta Dawn Duncan York, son: Byron Jessie Duncan, grandchildren: Katie York, Aaron Isaiah York (Bubb), Courtney Hamby, Miranda Hamby, Shayla Hamby, Colton Jessie Duncan, Brie Duncan, sisters: Vicky Duncan and Barbara Stephens, brother: Morris Braden (and companion Teresa Armes), great grandchildren: Jayvian Thomas, Jericho York, Emilee Rutledge, Emoree Rutledge, and Brandy Jo Rutledge, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters in law, brothers in law, the family pet (Leo) whom she loved, as well as special friends Grant Lowe, Popeye, along with several other church friends. Connie will be greatly missed by all those that knew her.

The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to Vicky Duncan and her daughter Crystal (Duncan) Self for the love and care that they gave Connie during her illness as well as the hospice team and chaplain at Covenant Health.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Brown Flats Baptist Church Cemetery with Brother Grant Lowe and and Rev. Roscoe Lindsey officiating.
