To the sorrow of all who knew her, Carolyn Joyce Goodman Allen passed away on March 28th, 2014 after a long courageous and fearless battle with cancer.
She was born December 8th, 1951 in Lake City to her parents, Ottis and Ruth Goodman. She was the youngest of eight children, two sisters and five brothers, who spoiled her as the baby of the family. She was loved by all including her lifelong best friend, JoAnn Winn.
She graduated from Jacksboro High School and earned her associates degree and Central Virginia Community College.
She was married to Harold Allen in 1982 and they shared their life together for 32 years, doing some of her favorite things, such as traveling and boating at Smith Mountain Lake, and simply enjoying life reading on the deck by the lighthouse with "Cha Cha" her baby.
She later became executive accountant at Family Care after moving to Knoxville, TN in 2012, where she was admired and loved by all her co-workers.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ottis and Ruth Goodman, her devoted sister, Arletta Smith and brothers, Kenneth and Carl Goodman.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Harold Allen, loving sister and brothers, Nancy and Jerry Conner, Jimmy and Lana Goodman, Lawrence and Margie Goodman, and Harold and Magdalene Goodman. Step daughters, Heather Allen and Jessica Branham, Also by Virginia Goodman and Jim Smith, and by her nieces, Penny, Peyton, and Lila Jordan, and many other nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
Visitation: 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, Monday, March 31, 2014 at Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel
Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Monday, March 31, 2014 at Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Lane and Rev. Kenneth Seeber officiating.
Interment will follow funeral service at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City.
