Carl Edward (Muncie) Hawkins, age 89, of the Beech Grove Community in Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Muncie was born on September 24, 1921 in Anderson County to the late Jess and Lillian Galbreath Hawkins. Muncie was a member of the Willowbrook Baptist Church and was an army veteran who served in WWII. He enjoyed gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Muncie worked for the State Highway Department for 20 years until his retirement. In addition to his parents, Muncie is preceded in death by: his first wife, Alma Jean Wilson Hawkins, his second wife, Vivian Gross Hawkins, son, Kenny Lee Hawkins, daughter, Linda Hawkins, brother, Fred Hawkins, and sister, Mary Tackett.

Funeral Service: 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2011 at Hatmaker Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Leach and Rev. Jimmy Ault officiating.
Interment: Friends and Family will meet at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City, TN; with Military Honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
