Arthur Lee "Ott" Kiser

Mr. Arthur Lee "Ott" Kiser, age 82 of Lake City entered his heavenly promise, joining his beloved Jesus on April 12th, 2016, surrounded by family.
Ott was born in Briceville, TN March 8th, 1934. The son of the late Otha Owen "Bill" & Lucille Daniels Kiser. He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 baby siblings, brothers Kyle Kiser, Reverend Keith Kiser, and sisters Imogene Vowell and Barbara Stanley Riddle.

After graduating from Lake City High School in 1953, he joined the United States Army and served in the 101st Airborne during the time of the Korean War. Upon returning from the Army he married his high school sweetheart, and love of his life, Ms. Janet Lee Harris.
He and Jan left immediately for Cleveland, TN where he attended Lee University for 2 years before moving to Johnson City, TN to attend East Tennessee State University. There he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English and History and earned his Teaching Certification.

They then returned to their home in Anderson County, where he began his 34 years of service with the Anderson County School System. He served as teacher, coach, and principal at Rosedale for several years before continuing his career at Lake City High School, Norris Junior High, and Anderson County High School. He had a love and dedication to the students of Anderson County that is unsurpassed. Throughout his career, he coached many basketball and football teams.
In 1969 he received a calling to preach, he pastored at Laurel Grove Baptist Church for several years and spent the rest of his life living and showing the love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through everything he did and taught. Mr. Kiser, or Coach Kiser as he was lovingly known by his students, was a shining example of the light of the Lord, giving his all for everyone he met. His family often hears from former students that the only Jesus they ever heard was in his class.
He was a loving husband to his "wifemeet", "Punky", for 59 A½ years and an adoring, loving father to his three children. He is described best by the song "Daddy's Hands".

Mr. Kiser is survived by his wife Janet Harris Kiser of Lake City, Daughter Terri Kiser Ferro of Knoxville, Daughter Beth Ann Kiser Hutson and husband Tim of Clinton, and son Joshua David Kiser and wife Heather of Lake City, 9 grandchildren who lit up his world, Stuart Keene, Forrest Davenport, Zach Hutson, Jacob Kiser, Jessica Kiser, Carson Huston, Joseph Kiser, Jude Kiser and Jarah Kiser, and 1 great grandson Levi Keene. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle "Ott".


Receiving friends: Thursday, April 14th from 4 - 7pm at Clinch River Baptist Church in Lake City with the funeral service immediately following with Rev. Tom Byrge and Rev. David Triplett officiating.
The Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 15th at 10am at Circle Cemetery, in Briceville, TN with military honors presented by the Campbell County Honor Guard. (procession meeting at Hatmaker at 9:15 am)
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses of UT Hospice for their kind and dedicated service during the past few weeks.
